The car becomes disabled, but Nicholas and Javed find a motorcycle. Fearing for Javed’s safety, Nicholas turns the car around and escapes a hail of gunfire. After recovering a car, Nicholas and Javed are stopped at a military roadblock where soldiers are executing anyone with a visible wound. Nicholas rescues an orphaned boy named Javed and reluctantly becomes the boy’s protector when Javed promises to show Nicholas the way to Mumbai. Nicholas begins fighting his way through clusters of zombies as he continues his journey on foot. Nicholas calls Ishani to tell her he is coming to Mumbai for her, prompting Ishani’s father to smash her cell phone. Nicholas realizes that the dead are reanimating and infecting the living after his Jeep hits a zombie in the road. Meanwhile, Nicholas is contacted about getting on an evacuation plane out of the country, but he vows to collect Ishani first. Ishani’s father forbids her from continuing her romance with Nicholas. Although separated by 300 miles, Nicholas and Ishani each see signs of chaos erupting in their respective regions. Ishani tells Nicholas that she is pregnant. While working on a wind farm turbine, American electrical engineer Nicholas Burton receives a phone call from his Indian girlfriend Ishani Sharma. Rajiv returns from the dead as a zombie shortly thereafter and an undead outbreak begins spreading throughout the country. Returning to India after being bitten by a mad woman in Somalia, a man named Rajiv succumbs to infection and dies.
